Live music shows are often called concerts. A concert is a live performance (typically of music) before an audience. The performance may be by a single musician, sometimes then called a recital, or by a musical ensemble, such as an orchestra, a choir, or a musical band. Concerts are held in a wide variety and size of settings, from private houses and small nightclubs, dedicated concert halls, entertainment centres and parks to large multipurpose buildings, and even sports stadiums. Indoor concerts held in the largest venues are sometimes called \"arena concerts\". Regardless of the venue, musicians usually perform on a stage. Concerts often require live event support with professional audio equipment. Before recorded music, concerts would provide the only opportunity one would generally have to hear musicians play. Informal names for a concert include \"show\" and \"gig\". The nature of a concert will vary by musical genre and the individual performers. A stepfamily, also known as a blended family, tangled family, or reconstituted family, is a family in which one or both members of the couple have children from a previous relationship. The member of the couple to whom the child is not biologically related is the stepparent, specifically the stepmother or stepfather. A stepfamily can be \"simple,\" in which only one member of the couple has a prior child or children, or it can be \"complex\" or \"blended.\" In a blended stepfamily, both members of the couple may have had pre-existing children, or the couple may have additional children together. If both members of the couple have prior children, the children are stepbrothers and stepsisters to one another. Any subsequent child born to the couple becomes the half-sister or half-brother of the prior children from previous relationships. The traditional and strictest definition of a \"stepfamily\" is a married couple where one or both members of the couple have pre-existing children. Manchester Music starts with the Elizabethan times when the Court Leet of the manor of Manchester appointed town waits to undertake certain duties, one of which was of \"playing morning and evening together, according as others have been heretofore accustomed to do\". In 1603 they welcomed into their company a more skilful musician and it was then ordered that \"the said waits shall hereafter be received to play music at all and every wedding and dinners in this town\". In 1918 the Education Committee appointed a Music Adviser to the schools of the city who encouraged the formation of school choirs and orchestras and the teaching of musical appreciation and the playing of instruments. According to C. H. Herford (writing in 1915): \"Music has been said to divide with Mammon the devotion of the people of Manchester. Possibly this sets their musical enthusiasm too high; but music has some chance of being that one of the fine arts to which her climate is least unkind.\"
